LGBT Fans Deserve Better is an all-volunteer organization of fans from all over the world who work to promote positive LGBTQ+ representation in media. The Organization is managed by a core group of volunteer staff from a variety of professional backgrounds and you can find out more about the team and the individual areas we are involved with here.
We strongly believe in the power of storytelling and how it affects people. Television as a medium is a strong platform that not only informs, but influences the beliefs and opinions of the world around us. Therefore, media plays a big part in how the LGBTQ+ community is perceived, and we believe that positive representation will ultimately lead to better treatment. Read more here.
We strive to educate the public and entertainment media industry about the importance of LGBTQ+ representation, and conducting our projects and independent research is a key aspect to this. We aim to be a reliable and objective information source, and individuals and the media are free to use the data provided by us. However, we ask you to provide us with credit for the work.
You can be involved in a number of ways – by donating, volunteering your time or talents, or simply by spreading the word about the importance of positive representation by following us on our social media platforms.
A gift of any amount helps us work to promote positive media representation and provide support for our community, and will always be used to further our mission. This may include (but is not limited to): expenses related to public speaking engagements and booth rentals at fan conventions or any other special event, production costs of pamphlets or any other similar material that helps spread the importance of positive LGBTQ+ rep, production costs of t-shirts and other items that help spread the importance of positive LGBTQ+ rep, website hosting fees, fundraising costs, accounting and/or legal fees, P.O. Box rental, and anything else that is deemed a reasonable and necessary expense for the function of furthering our mission. We are an all-volunteer organization, and we do not and will not personally profit or receive compensation from our association with LGBT Fans Deserve Better.
LGBT Fans Deserve Better, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and your contribution is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable. Please keep any receipts of your contributions for your own records. More information on our finances can be found here.
